Elda Vitanovic has a M.Sc. in Biotechnology from the Faculty of Agriculture University of Zagreb, Croatia (2006) and a Ph.D. in Phytomedicine from the Faculty of Agriculture University of Osijek, Croatia (2010). She is a Research Associate and Head of Department of Applied Science at the Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karst Reclamation in Croatia. Also, she is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Mediterranean agriculture University in Split, Croatia and at the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Science University in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her research interests are focused on Integrated Pest Management especially in olive orchards. She has fifteen years of experience in the plant protection of fruits and ornamental plants and seven years of teaching experience.

She is a member of: Scientific Council of Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karst Reclamation in Split (2012); Croatian Society of Plat Protection Board of Directors (2013), Entomology Society of America (2015); International Panel Group for sensorial analyses of olive oil, IOC (2006); Organization/Scientific Committee and Convener for a section /Agricultural and Forest Entomology/ - ICE 2016, Orlando USA; and Organization/Secretary - 8th International Olive Symposium, 2016, Split Croatia.

She has been awarded for 2015-2016 Fulbright Scholarship Program to work at Department of Entomology and Nematology - University of California, Davis as a Postdoctoral Researcher. She will be doing the research of understanding the multi-trophic association of olive fruit, yeasts and olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae Gmel.) with possible implications for pest management. She also collaborates and works at the Department for Food Science and Technology, UC Davis with Dr. Kyria Boundy-Mills.
